An outline of library's services and resources for faculty: course reserves, off campus access to databases, e-journals, interlibrary loan, instruction, research assistance, and digital imaging

Activate your Library Account!

Top 3 Reasons to Activate your RISD Library Account

1. A RISD Library account allows you to borrow materials, renew online, request and put items on hold,
and assign a Deputy Borrower to check out items on your behalf.

2. A RISD Library account is necessary for 24/7 off-campus access to all RISD Library's Online Subscription databases.

    How it works:
After selecting a database link from the Library's Online Resources page, the login window opens.
Login using your name as it appears on the front of your RISD ID.
For Barcode, use the 14-digit number located on the back of your RISD ID.
(You'll only need to do this once per browser session)

If you encounter a problem, contact the Reference Department. We'll update your library account and get things moving along.

3. A RISD Library account will grant you entrance and borrowing privileges at Brown Libraries.
In order to check out items at Brown, you must have a current RISD Library account.

Register for a RISD Library Account by filling out a registration form at the RISD Library Circulation Desk.
Then visit Brown's Rockefeller Library Circulation Desk and present your RISD ID to create a Brown Library account.

For a full list of faculty privileges and services, see the Library's Information for Faculty webpage.

What interests you?

Whether you're new or tenured, full or part-time, the librarians would like to get to know more about your studio and research interests. We'll set up a time to meet with you, investigate and advise on print and electronic resources that relate to your work and/or teaching, and show you around the library's seven departments. We can discuss ways to integrate a research component into a course or specific studio assignment.

We'll describe RISD library services and access options to collections and resources beyond campus. Departmental faculty library orientations are also welcome. Contact the Reference desk or your department's Library Liaison.

Tip: courtesy email notices

When you activate your library account be sure to include an address to an email account that you check regularly.

You'll receive courtesy email notices reminding you that your library items are due in 5 days with a link to renew online before they're due.

Contact the Circulation Department
to update your email address in your library account.

Start a reading history

Login to your library account by selecting My Record. Type in your name as it appears on the front of your risd ID and the 14-digit barcode number on the back of your ID.

Select
My Reading History

Select
Opt In
to begin a list (organized by checkout date) of all the items you've read or watched.

Use the reading history to keep track of what you read when; use the export feature to email, print or download
(txt file) your reading list.

Brown's catalog also has this feature - follow the same steps to set up your Checkout History in Brown Library's
MyJosiah (for RISD login, use the right side of the form)
