  • Activate your Library Account

All new students must activate their Library Account by physically
coming in to the library

 Activate your Library Account at the Circulation Desk

Your RISD ID acts as your library card - bring it with you when you want to check out items

Your RISD Library Account allows you off campus access to the library's 35+ subscription Databases

Your RISD Library Account allows you entrance to and borrowing privileges
at Brown Library and the Providence Athenaeum Library

 All returning students and staff must re-activate their library account each academic year

  • 24/7 Off Campus Access to RISD Online Databases

    Start at library.risd.edu

    Select a Database Link to search from the Resources menu
    (examples: Art Full Text, JSTOR, Oxford Art Online)

    * You will be prompted for information located on your RISD ID:

       Type in your name (as it appears on your RISD ID)

       14-digit barcode number (located on the back of your RISD ID)

     * the log in process is necessary only once per browser session



  • Manage your Library Account Online

    Renew Online - avoid overdue fines

    Renew by Logging in to My Record

    Once in, start a Reading History and look into Preferred Searches
