How to Return Library Materials

Do you have books, DVDs, picture files, or materials checked out from Fleet Library?

Over the past year, we have repeatedly extended due dates for most checked-out items. If you still have library items, we are now looking to get them back. If you believe you have lost them or need to speak with us for any other reason, just send an email to and we will work with you to resolve the issue.

Here are two ways you can return library materials:

  1. Book drop: If you are in the Providence area, you can use the book drop just inside the front doors of 15 Westminster Street (by Public Safety) anytime.
  2. Mail items to us: Fill out this form to start the process - we can send you a prepaid shipping label, or reimburse you with RISDbucks (keep the receipt!).

Our mailing address:

Fleet Library at RISD
2 College Street
Providence, RI 02903

Did you get a bill?

We have worked to help keep everyone fee-free for the first year of this pandemic. However, we must now resume our normal billing procedures in order to get books back (and replace the lost ones)!

If you are a graduating student (or already graduated), having unpaid library bills will affect your ability to access transcripts.

We want to help! Please check your account here and/or contact Mark Sweeney ( for information.
