Sanborn Maps, 1867-1970 provide digital access to large-scale maps of Rhode Island. These maps are valuable historical tools to learn about the history, growth, and development of American cities, towns, and neighborhoods. A key is provided by the Sanborn Map Company.

Locating Maps within Print Publications

One way to locate maps included in publications is to keyword search the RISD/ATH catalog using a place name and the word "maps". This will generate a list of titles which contain map images.
Please note-not all titles will be relevant using this simple technique.
