Use the catalog to perform keyword searches on your topic. Books labeled "RISD MAIN" and "RISD OVERSIZE" are available to check out. eBooks can be viewed in your browser or downloaded (tutorial here).
You can save information for finding books later: take a photo or screenshot of the page, being sure to capture the Location, Call Number, and Status (whether it is checked out or not). Use the call number to locate the book within the library. Alternatively, you can use the "Add to Bag" feature in the catalog to email book info to yourself.
You can also use Amazon or Google Books to find books. Then, simply copy the title and author into RISD's library catalog to see if we own them already.
If you want a book we do not have, check Brown. If that doesn't work, we can still get it for you. Fill out an Interlibrary Loan form and we'll borrow it from another library - you'll receive an email when it arrives.
