Your Library Account
Your RISD ID is your library card. New faculty are regularly added to the library's patron database, but if you can't log into your library account, let us know by dropping by the circulation desk or emailing us at library@risd.edu.
- Your library account allows you to borrow materials, renew online, request and put items on hold, and assign a Deputy Borrower to check out items on your behalf.
- Brown University Libraries: Your library account will grant you entrance and borrowing privileges at Brown. In order to check out items at Brown, you must have a RISD library account in good standing. Then visit Brown's Rockefeller Library Circulation Desk and present your RISD ID to create a Brown Library account.
- If you need access to items RISD does not have, make an Interlibrary Loan request and/or contact researchhelp@risd.edu.
- Spouses/Partners of RISD employees are eligible for Fleet Library borrowing access (5 items at a time). If you'd like to register your partner for the library, please accompany them to the Circulation desk so that we can issue them a library card.
- Professor Emeritus: With your emeritus RISD ID, you have full privileges at Fleet Library which include borrowing books, Interlibrary Loan, and remote access to online resources. To explore databases, journals, streaming video services, and more, your library account needs to be up to date. Further access instructions can be found here. If you have any trouble at all, please contact library staff at library@risd.edu.

Books, Media, and Interlibrary Loan
Renew online or by contacting the Circulation Desk at 401 709-5901 / library@risd.edu.
Use Interlibrary Loan to request articles, books, book chapters and media not available locally. Physical items circulate for 4 weeks. You may request renewals to extend the use of an item.

View Your Reading History
- Log in to your library account by selecting My Account in the top right corner of the library website.
- Select
Reading History - Use the reading history to keep track of what you read when; use the export feature to email, print or download (txt file) your reading list.
Courtesy Email Notices
- When you activate your library account be sure to include an address to an email account that you check regularly.
- You'll receive courtesy email notices reminding you that your library items are due in 5 days with a link to renew online before they're due.
- Contact the Circulation Department to update your email address in your library account.
Suggest a Book
Click here to suggest items for the library. We welcome requests and recommendations for books, eBooks, magazines, and films to add to the library collection! RISD faculty and student requests are given first priority. Please check the Fleet library catalog before making a request, and contact Donna DeForbes (ddeforbe@risd.edu) with any questions.
