Nafis M. White & García Sinclair
The James Enrico White & Luzia de Fatima do Rego Furtado Ferreira de Oliveira Memorial Award for Outstanding Artist in honor of the late parents of RISD students Nafis M. White & García Sinclair, Sculpture 2015.
This award honors the achievement of a current RISD student using book arts as medium for exemplary and daring exploration into both concept and materiality. The James Enrico White & Luzia de Fatima do Rego Furtado Ferreira de Oliveira Memorial Award honors the bravery and perseverance of the namesakes who fought against great personal barriers including systemic racism, gender inequality, anti immigration laws, and social economic injustice.
We hope that this prize inspires the recipient to push further in their work to break their own boundaries and make a resounding mark on this world. The award is $300 as a seed for change.
