I am a practicing artist with an MFA in Painting & Drawing and an MLS in Academic Librarianship. I bring 18 years experience as an academic art librarian to my current research and teaching at RISD Library. As coordinator of the graduate library instruction program, I truly enjoy helping artists connect ideas that originate in their studio to research which can deepen and focus their practice.
Academic research/ areas of interest
My research involves studying the intersections of creative practice, art & design research, pedagogy and art librarianship. Recent work explores ways to identify transliterate and multi-modal expressions of art & design research in the studio critique. The focus of my research-led studio practice is to visually communicate the effects of sea-level rise to raise awareness about climate change.
I am researching the prevalence of bullying and mobbing in academic libraries with the intention to raise awareness about workplace bullying and to promote campus wide anti-bullying policies in academia.
